Jesus was not quoting the gnostic corrupted texts found in Alexandria in the past century or so, nor did the Pharisees of His day. That is the difference. The modern versions are taken from them. Thank you for your informative and thought-provoking writings. That means that Christ was not using some divine prerogative to quote from it. It was commonly done by Israelites in His time, including their scholars. If they didn't read from it then his question to them wouldn't make sense.

The apostles also quote the Septuagint. In fact, about 2/3rds of OT quotes come from the LXX.

My purpose in bringing this up is to show from within the Scriptures themselves that BOTH sources were considered the Word of God even though the LXX is a Greek translation that differs in places from the MT. This fact is one that undermines the very modern theory that the KJV is the only true translation of the Word of God in English today. He would often sort of paraphrase from the original in a lot of cases, but while man shouldn't feel free to do that, I think as God, He had the right to do so if He wanted.Conniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16624728134929059941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4902564489239485922.post-7907092104437669792017-01-20T10:34:26.252-08:002017-01-20T10:34:26.252-08:00Yes, but when the Lord Jesus Christ Himself quotes...Yes, but when the Lord Jesus Christ Himself quotes the verse He says the 2nd one.
