Is Reiki Safe for Christians to Practice?

Lately I had reason to investigate an alternative form of “medicine” called Reiki. I use the quotes around the word medicine, for this type of medicine falls into the same sort of category as healings done by people the likes of Benny Hinn. It is a medicine that is supposedly practiced via a spiritual energy life force transfer, rather than depending on diagnosis and physical medical treatment from sources such as medication or surgery. The force is said to come from God, just as Benny Him and his compatriots claim that God is behind their so-called healings. But this article is not about Benny Hinn and his ilk. This is about the New (ancient) Age technique of reiki which many people, and sadly many Christians, are embracing.

To give a little background on this practice, I quote the following information from both Wickipedia and the Reiki Association. (http://www.reikiassociation.org.uk/3.html)

Reiki is a spiritual practice developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui which has since been adapted by various teachers of varying traditions. Fired by a burning question, Dr. Usui was inspired to develop this healing system from ancient teachings after many years of study, research, and meditation. It uses a technique commonly called palm healing or hands on healing as a form of alternative medicine and is sometimes classified as oriental medicine by some professional medical bodies. Through the use of this technique, practitioners believe that they are transferring universal energy in the form of qi (also spelled qui, ki, chi, or ch'i – and which means life force) through the palms, which they believe allows for self-healing and a state of equilibrium. There is no belief system attached to Reiki, so anyone can receive or learn to give a Reiki treatment. It is possible to heal at any level of being: physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. Acute injuries can be helped to heal very quickly, but more chronic illness takes longer. In some cases such as terminal illness, there is not enough time for the progress of the disease to be reversed. However, in such cases there is usually great benefit and enhancement of the quality of life giving a sense of peace and acceptance during the time remaining. The practitioner is a channel which the energy is drawn through by the need or imbalance in the recipient. Neither person has to use any effort of will or concentration during this process.

Before addressing some of the statements in the above quotes, and listing many more that I found at another Reiki website, I feel it is important to first look at what God has to teach us about healing.

Genesis 20:17 “So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.”

Healing by God was in answer to prayer by Abraham. Abraham did not perform any ritual upon Abimelech or his household. The only thing necessary was prayer. But this prayer was not a chanting of a mantra or anything of that nature. It was a fervent intercessory prayer of a man pleading with God to heal another and his household from a punishment from God, that Abraham's actions had inflicted upon them.

Exodus 15:26 “And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.”

God is declaring that He is the one who heals Israel, directly, not through an intermediary. He will even prevent diseases and plagues, if they will listen to His commandments and heed them and obey His laws.

2 Kings 20:1-6 “In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live. Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying, I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying, Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD. And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.”

God healed Hezekiah in answer to his prayer, because he had walked in righteousness before God. There was a condition for this prayer being answered. It was Hezekiah's relationship with God. Abraham had experienced the same relationship. God must know a person before He will listen to that person's prayers. The one unbeliever's prayer that God will listen to is the prayer of repentance. Otherwise, He does not know the person and they cannot expect that they have any right for their prayers of healing to be answered.

2 Chronicles 10:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Again we see that people must belong to the Lord, be called by His name in order to access Him in prayer. God heals not only our infirmities, whether spiritual (forgiving our sins), physical, and emotional but also he will heal a nation if the people that belong to Him within that nation pray for its healing. We must pray with humility though.

Psalm 6:2 “Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed.”

Again we see that prayer must be offered with humility if we want healing, for healing only comes from God's mercy.

Psalm 30:2 “O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.”

We do not have to go to others in prayer to get healing, if we know God, we can go to Him directly. However intercessory prayer by other believers is very helpful in getting God's attention and an answer.

Psalm 41:4 “I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.”

Confession of our sin along with a request for healing is going to open the door of communication between God and us, for sin is an obstacle in our communion with Him.

Psalm 103:2-3 “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;”

Again, part of healing is forgiveness of sins, for often it is our sin that is causing our infirmity.

Psalm 147:3 “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”

God heals our emotional needs as well as physical.

Isaiah 53:5 “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

The ultimate healing that God gives us is to heal us of our iniquities. The forgiveness of sin is far more important than physical healing, for while the one may give us a longer physical life, the other gives us eternal life. Our sins were laid upon Him. He was brutally beaten and crucified so that we could be healed of our sins. The chastisement, that was ours for our sins, was laid upon Him, and forgiven us.

Jeremiah 17:14 “Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.”

Matthew 9:2-7 “And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. And he arose, and departed to his house.”

Healing our sins so that we may have eternal life is far more important than healing us of our physical ailments so that we may have a longer mortal life. To show that Jesus had the power to give us eternal life by healing us of our sins, He miraculously healed people of illnesses and disabilities that are not curable even in our day and age. He cast out demons as well as illness.

Matthew 4:23-24 “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.”

Matthew 8:2-3 “And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.”

Matthew 8:5-17 “And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them. When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.”

While Jesus often touched people when He healed them, it was not necessary. He had the power within His words to heal from a distance, as evidenced by the centurian's servant being healed without ever seeing Jesus. Just speaking that someone was healed was enough for them to be healed.

Matthew 8:28-32 “And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time? And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding. So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine. And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.”

People were healed of demonic possession, because the demons recognized that Jesus was the Son of God, God incarnate who had the power to do whatever He wanted to them. He is God and God is more powerful than any other spiritual entity that He created. Only God is more powerful than them though. We are not. Any ability we have to fight and overpower them is due to Christ's power flowing through us. This requires being a born again believer in Christ, and having a relationship with Him that is in good standing.

Matthew 9:20-22 “And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.”

It was people's faith that enabled them to be healed. They believed Christ was the Son of God who had God's power to heal them. He did not have to even be actively healing them. The healing flowed out from Him.

Matthew 9:27-30a “And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord . Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened;”

Again it was people's faith and belief in Him that enable the healing to take place.

Matthew 9:35 “And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.”

Matthew 12:10-14 “And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him. And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.”

Matthew 12:22 “Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.”

Luke 4:18-19 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”

Christ did not come merely to physically heal people. He came to preach the gospel of God's forgiveness to the people so that they could be spiritually healed. He preached deliverance to people who were captive to sin, to set them at liberty so that they could keep the law through Him. The miracles and physical healings were just to give proof to His message of forgiveness. They were not the purpose of His coming.

Luke 5:17 “And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.”

Even Jesus had been restricted to living as a human without power until the Holy Spirit descended upon Him, for the power of the Lord had to come upon Him for Him to do these miracles, as He was living as a human so that He might experience what we have to experience. He was tempted in all ways as we were, yet never sinned. How could He sympathize with our difficulties if He never experienced them? He had to be extended the power by God while here, just as we have to be extended the power by God for us to do anything that might be considered miraculous (which the apostles certainly did.) But to access that power, one must be in communion with God.

Matthew 10:1, 6-8 “And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease..... But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. ”

Mark 6:7, 12-13 “And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits......And they went out, and preached that men should repent. And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.”

Luke 9:1-2, 6 “Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick...And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where ”

The disciples were sent forth not just to heal and cast out demons, but to preach the gospel of the kingdom, which was to repent.

Acts 14:8-10 “And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked: The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.”

For people to be healed, it still required that they have faith.

1 Corinthians 12:4-10, 28-30 “Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will..... And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? ”

The gift of healing is one of many gifts of the Spirit. It is only given to a few, as for the body to be complete they must have all the gifts, not just the miraculous. In fact, I have never seen a person who truly has a miraculous gift. I do believe God may still give them, but I have never seen someone with a true gift (as opposed to quacks and charlatans who pretend to have it.) What I do believe is that those with the miraculous gifts would keep them quiet, so as to not gather followers around them. I believe they would humbly do their work in a way that nobody would know that they have the gift for fear of being worshiped. Only this type of person could handle a gift like this. Which may be why I have never known someone with these gifts. As the gift of healing is given by the Holy Spirit, only someone with a personal relationship with Christ could possibly have it. Anyone who does not have that born again relationship with Christ, who is supposedly manifesting a gift of healing would fall into two categories. Either they are a huckster fleecing people out of their money - a complete charlatan, or they are in league with demonic spirits who are performing healings on behalf of the practitioner who “heals” people. Nobody can miraculously heal others on their own. The power to heal miraculously comes directly from Christ as a gift of the Holy Spirit and only is given to a small group (if any) of Christians. Demons also have the power to heal, but often they have inflicted the ailment to begin with, so that they can take it away for the purpose of having someone believe in something like Reiki or faith healing, which they are controlling. It is a ploy to deceive people away from Christ.

James 5:14-16 “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

Here we find the directive that tells us what to do if we are in need of healing. This is the practice that Christians are supposed to use when asking God to heal them. We are to call the elders of the church together, they are to anoint the person with oil, the person should confess any sins (for sin can be a cause of illness) and have faith that God can and will heal them. The elders should also have confessed any sins, for sin gets in the way of having prayers answered, and then they need to pray fervently for the person to be healed. This is the way that God has told us we are to practice healing within the church. It does not require having a person with a miraculous gift of healing in the church, which seems to indicate that God does not hand these miraculous gifts out very frequently, if at all. Any other form of “spiritual” or mystical healing is not Scriptural and should be avoided, especially if Christians are not involved in the healing process.

Now let us look at how Reiki lines up with Scripture on the subject of healing. Below are quotes taken from Reiki organizational websites that offer information, list practitioners from all over, offer classes and etc. The following quotes in italics come from http://www.reiki.org. I will make comments following the statements.

The Japanese name for the master level of Reiki is Shinpiden which means “Mystery Teaching.”

The first thing that one should note is that Reiki is a Japanese healing art from the Buddhist tradition and at the highest level is known as a “mystery” teaching. Anyone with any familiarity with the Bible knows that the Mystery religion is from Mystery Babylon, which is the religion of Satan. The Babylonian mysteries are the occult teachings that are found in all the pagan religions.

When we receive the Usui master symbol and the attunement that empowers it, it creates the possibility for us to become aware of the Ultimate Reality. This is expressed in the definition of the Usui master symbol which indicates that it represents that part of the self that is already completely enlightened! When we use the master symbol, we are actually connecting with our own enlightened selves. This in fact, is the true source of Reiki energy

Reiki masters are given symbols, which they trace on their hands before having a healing session. The occult is big into secret symbols. Note that the symbol and the “attunement” (read that as spiritual entity) that “empowers” it, allows them to be “enlightened.” Satan presents himself as an angel of light and he loves to have his groups carry names that indicate a source of enlightenment. e.g. Illuminati. This symbol brings with it a “power”. This power is not from Christ, it is from another spiritual source. One that answers to the symbol. This power is demonic in nature. This is, as they say, the “true source” of Reiki energy. They are perfectly honest as to the source of the power, but people are too ignorant to understand what they are saying.

Then meditate on this affirmation. "I surrender completely to the Reiki energy and the source from which it comes." Repeat this affirmation over and over, then as the Reiki energy continues to flow, with your inner eye, look for the source of Reiki, either within yourself or above.

Again, they are being perfectly honest as to the source of the power. First you have to meditate. This requires chanting a mantra. Although this mantra is a sentence, not the usual mantra which tends to be the names of demonic entities (chanting them calls up the demon in question), note what they repeat over and over in this sentence. They are surrendering to the source entity from which the power comes. Again, they are saying that it is coming from a source outside of themselves, and they are turning themselves completely over to this source. The person is to look with their “inner eye” (an occult reference) for that source.

By doing this, you will have many important experiences. As your awareness moves closer and closer to the source, you will become aware of amazing insights and have ever increasing experiences...Reiki will guide you to other healing techniques that are exactly right for you to use in addition to Reiki. You may also receive guidance about changes you need to make that require you to take action.

The person now demonically possessed will of course have unusual experiences. That is the whole objective, so as to solidify the attachment of the person to the demon. Notice that as they grow closer (spiritually) to the source (demon) they start experiencing insights into things that they had never known or experienced before. People in the occult do experience supernatural occurrences, for they are dealing with supernatural entities. Once in the power of the demon, it leads them down the path into more occultic practices, types of sorceries and witchcraft. They now have a “spirit guide” which will teach them and make changes in their lives as needed for the demonic spirit to maintain its complete control and use them to lead others astray.

As we continue on our healing path, we will become aware of a level of consciousness that resides deep within each of us that can bring a wonderful new way of living. It creates a new attitude that is entirely positive and brings with it the ability to solve many problems and create positive results that previously we did not think possible. This higher consciousness is what Jesus was experiencing when he performed miracles and when he had a profoundly positive effect on those around him.

Once in the demons' power, people experience other levels of consciousness, because when a demon is in control of a person, they find themselves shoved aside into a subconscious state much of the time. The entity will give them positive feedback in the way of feelings, making them think that they are raising themselves to higher levels of consciousness and morality, so as to keep them ignorant of the source of the power to which they have turned themselves over. It will give them what they will believe is a wisdom to solve problems by positive thinking. This higher consciousness is merely the demon providing their minds with information. Jesus was God incarnate. There is no higher form of consciousness than that. He was empowered by the Holy Spirit to do the miracles and the positive effect He had on those around Him was due to their experiencing forgiveness of their sins and the freedom of their spirit which that brings.

This new consciousness is coming to many people now and in a short time will become the normal state for most of the people on earth. You might say that it is a higher aspect of Reiki consciousness, but it has gone by many names and it is becoming more and more available to all of us. Jesus spoke of it as the second coming of Christ and I believe that he did not mean that Jesus would return to earth as he did 2000 years ago, but that the spirit of the Christ would become available to all of us.

Unfortunately yes, this new consciousness is coming to many people now and in a short time it will become the normal state for many people. We are told that most will take the mark of the beast and most likely that will bring with it demonic possession. Many people are already demonically possessed from playing with all the occult things that are out there – ouija boards, horoscopes, channeling, yoga, Reiki, rock music, the list is endless. There are so many doors being opened to demonic possession these days that it is amazing that there are any (apart from Christians) that are still not possessed. The number is dwindling fast. It does go by many names, as I just showed from naming a few, and it is available to everyone. Jesus did speak of it, but not as His Second Coming. He asked if He would even find faith left on earth when He came back, for most everyone will have given themselves over to demonic powers. Jesus will be coming back to earth physically just as He did 2000 years ago. He was not lying about that, for that is exactly what He said He would do. Matthew 24:30 “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great gloryAlso the angels told the disciples when He ascended that He would return physically just as He left. Acts 1:9-11And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” The so-called New Age “Spirit of Christ” or Christ consciousness of which they speak is for people to open themselves to demonic possession, so as to experience this state of higher self, which is really only the demon taking control.

This Christ consciousness is not limited to those of the Christian religion, but is available to members of all religions and spiritual paths. In fact, this higher way of manifesting our lives has been part of all religious practices and has gone by many names depending on which religious or spiritual group named it.

As already said, the Christ consciousness is not from Christ, therefore it is not limited to only Christians who have accepted Jesus as their Savior and have been indwelt by the Holy Spirit. These people experience demonic possession. They are speaking the truth when they say that this has been a part of all religious practices (including Christianity in this day and age) and it has gone by many names over the ages depending on the group who named it. It is called paganism, witchcraft, the occult, the New Age, Shamanism, mysticism, the list goes on and on. This in and of itself should now be enough to convince any Christian that they should not be messing around with this witchcraft. It is an abomination to the Lord. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.” But we will continue with looking at what they say about themselves.

Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. The ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class.

Reiki is a “spiritually guided …. energy.” The energy being, of course, the demon. It is administered by the laying on of hands. That is how it is transferred. The person doing the healing passes the demon with the permission of the recipient. Of course it is not taught in the usual sense. There is nothing to teach. It only requires the passing of the demon to the other person and their reception of that demon into their lives for him to work his “magic.”

Its use is not dependent on one's intellectual capacity or spiritual development and therefore is available to everyone.

Of course it is not dependent upon one's intellectual capacity of spiritual development. All a demon needs to take possession is your permission. It is the source of intelligence and power and it does not want you to have any real spiritual development (meaning a true belief in God), for that would work very much against their agenda.

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not.

Again, how Christians could be involved with this when they make statements like this is a mystery to me. It is spiritual in nature because it is demonic possession. It is not dependent upon a belief in God, because a true belief in God would be counterproductive to the demon and what he hopes to accomplish. Naturally it works whether a person believes or not, for all a demon needs is permission to enter a person. They do not need you to believe. They can do all sorts of miraculous things through the humans that they possess. In fact, if a person is truly producing healing results, as opposed to psychologically manipulating a person through charlatan methods and engendering a temporary manifestation due to the mind of the patient, it is evidence of demonic possession, for a lack of belief or more specifically not being a born again Christian, would be evidence that the source is not from God.

Because Reiki comes from God, many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with the experience of their religion rather than having only an intellectual concept of it.

As shown above, Reiki does not come from God at all. It may give people a mystical “religious” experience, but that experience is not a connection with God. It is a connection with Satan. God says that we must worship Him with our heart, soul, and mind. Matthew 22:37 “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” He does not want us emptying our mind, nor chanting mantras. Matthew 6:7 “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.” He wants us actively engaged mentally through prayer and reading and studying Scripture, and to understand Him intellectually as well as having a spiritual relationship with Him through Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 2:15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

During a meditation several years after developing Reiki, Dr. Usui decided to add the Reiki Ideals to the practice of Reiki. The Ideals came in part from the five prinicples of the Meiji emperor of Japan whom Dr. Usui admired. The Ideals were developed to add spiritual balance to Usui Reiki. Their purpose is to help people realize that healing the spirit by consciously deciding to improve oneself is a necessary part of the Reiki healing experience.

The purpose of adding these ideals (from Satan's point of view) was to deceive people into thinking that they were attaining a higher level of spiritual consciousness, for most people assume that a spiritually superior person is naturally going to be more selfless and have high ideals and concepts. Note further below the ideals of Reiki and how some are similar to what is taught by Christ – do not worry, (Matthew 6:25-34 “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”), do not be angry (Ephesians 4:26 “Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath.”), be thankful, (1 Thessalonians 5:18 “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”), be diligent in what you do (1 Corinthians 10:31b “whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”), be kind (Ephesians 5:32 “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.”), pray morning and evening (1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.”).

Ideals of Reiki
The secret art of inviting happiness
The miraculous medicine of all diseases
Just for today, do not anger
Do not worry and be filled with gratitude
Devote yourself to your work. Be kind to people.
Every morning and evening, join your hands in meditation.
Pray these words to your heart

and chant these words with your mouth
For improvement of mind and body.

As said at the beginning, there is much truth in these false religious teachings. If they were only lies, people might not be so interested. Look at how these ideals parallel much of Christ's teachings, yet notice the subtle differences. This is a “secret” art. God does not have a secret religion. That is strictly Satan's realm. Chanting and meditation, two occult practices are a major part of this ritual. They allow the demonic entity entrance into the person to do carry out its intentions. The miraculous healing of all diseases. Reiki seems to offer a blanket guarantee of being healed. God on the other hand does not always heal for a couple of reasons. First it may be a faith problem, second it may simply not be His will as He has a greater plan in motion.

There are many similarities between the laying on of hands healing Jesus did and the practice of Reiki.

There is no similiarity. Reiki is either bogus and quackery, or demonic and witchcraft. Jesus was God incarnate and healed through the power of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity. Jesus forgave people of their sins along with healing them. Reiki is not concerned with sins.

One important similarity is the fact that Jesus could pass the power to heal on to others which is similar to the Reiki attunement process. We read in Luke 9:1-2 that Jesus gave his twelve disciples power to drive out all demons and to cure diseases. We do not know by what process Jesus gave healing power to his disciples, but the fact that he was able to pass it on to them indicates an important similarity with Reiki.

Jesus did not “pass on” the power to heal others. Jesus gave them the Holy Spirit, who did the healing when they claimed it in Jesus' name. And notice that they did have to heal in Jesus name, not in their own. Acts 3:6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.” We do know by what process Jesus gave healing power. He told them to heal in His name. That was all that was necessary, that and prayer (sometimes fasting for certain demonic exorcisms.) The source of healing was the Holy Spirit, not any power that the disciples had. It has no similarity to Reiki whatsoever.

Another aspect of Jesus' healing practice that is similar to Reiki relates to faith. While faith was required for many of the healings he performed, it appears that the healings Jesus did with his hands did not require faith. Mark 6:5-6 states: "He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. And he was amazed at their lack of faith." So, in spite of the fact that they did not believe, Jesus was still able to use laying on of hands to heal. This is one of the important aspects of Reiki: It does not require faith on the part of those receiving a treatment in order for the Reiki to work.

Faith was not required for many of the healings Christ performed. It was required for all of the healings that He performed. Where there was no faith, he could not perform the healings. The verses mentioned above in Mark 6 states that he was unable to do all the miracles He normally did because of their lack of faith. The few He could do were due to the faith of those very few individuals The lack of faith prevented any further healings other than those few. They misunderstand these verses entirely. Jesus did not heal those with no faith. It requires faith. On the other hand Reiki does not require faith on anyone's part, either the practitioner or the patient. This is very different from God's healing.

The fact that Jesus had secret teachings he gave only to those who he had given healing power is clearly indicated in Matthew 13:10-11 and Mark 4:10-12 & 34. Secret knowledge is also part of the Reiki teachings in that the symbols as well as the process of doing attunements are traditionally kept secret and only made available to those who take a Reiki class.

Let us take a look at those Scriptures to see if they are understanding them correctly. Matthew 13:10-11 “And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.” Taking these two verses out of context, one might assume that Jesus was giving secret teachings to His disciples, but is that really what these verses mean? Let us look at the entire context of the passage. Matthew 13:10-17 “And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.” (Mark is the parallel passage) Jesus spoke in parables because only those who had faith in God and in Jesus as the Son of God had their spiritual eyes and ears open to understand what He was saying. When one does not have a relationship with God, one cannot understand the Word of God, because God's Word is only spiritually discerned. It has nothing to do with secrets, for the information is not secret. It is right there in God's Word, however the understanding only comes from God, and so one must be in a right relationship with Him to perceive those things about which He speaks. 1 Corinthians 2:14 “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” Israel had long before closed their ears to God's instructions. They did it almost immediately upon leaving Egypt, and it only got worse as time went by, with occasional times of repentance. That is why then ended up in bondage so much of the time. This was to what Christ was referring when he said they neither heard, nor saw, nor understood. Their minds were dulled from sin, and this was the cause of their lack of understanding. Not that the teachings were secret, for we have the teachings for all to read, do we not?

It is not known whether Jesus was born with the ability to heal through touch or if this was something he acquired. His activities between age twelve and thirty are not mentioned in the Bible. It has been suggested by several researchers that during this time Jesus traveled to the East and was schooled in many of the mystical teachings of India, Tibet and China. If this is so, it is possible that Jesus was initiated into a healing technique, during this time. On the other hand, it is possible that Jesus was taught directly by God or the Holy Spirit or simply had these abilities from birth.

Jesus was God incarnate. The Holy Spirit descended upon Him at the time of His baptism. As He did not perform any miracles before that time, it is logical to assume that the power that He had through the Holy Spirit came upon Him at the time the Holy Spirit was seen to descend upon Him. His activities between the age of twelve and thirty are not mentioned, because there is nothing worthy of mentioning. He most likely was studying the Torah with the rabbi, as was the common practice, and working alongside Joseph at carpentry which was also a common practice – to apprentice the father's vocation. He did not travel to the East and learn the mystical teachings of Satan through those pagan religions. One can be assured of that.

The early followers of Jesus' teachings were made up of several groups. One such group was the Gnostics. They practiced laying on of hands and professed to have a secret knowledge that had been passed on to them by Jesus and his disciples.

The Gnostics were heretics. They believed that salvation was achieved through special knowledge, something only they could impart. Gnosticism denies the incarnation of God as the Son and thus the atonement. Salvation does not come through the sacrifice of God (the Son) on the cross, paying the penalty for our sins, but from special secret knowledge that is imparted (enlightenment). This is the source of the “christ conciousness.” What does God have to say about this? 1 John 4:1-3 “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.” According to God, the Gnostics were antichrists. Therefore anything they did was of the devil. Their laying on of hands was not for the good of men (they probably passed demons on to others) and the secret knowledge they claimed to have was of the Babylonian mysteries, those practices of Satan, not of God. Jesus did not pass on such secret knowledge. All of Christ's words and all of God's teachings are clearly open for all to read and believe.

Jesus possessed great confidence in his ability and was able to heal in an instantaneous way with spectacular results. It is clear that he had perfected many skills and used them in conjunction to get the results he created.

Jesus was God. Why should He not have confidence in His abilities? For heaven's sake, He spoke the entire universe into being. Healing was no big deal. God is a God of miracles. They are nothing for Him. Jesus did not have to “perfect” His skills. He is the omnipotent God. He gets any results He wants.

One of the greatest joys of Reiki Mastership is teaching Reiki to others. Imagine the thrill of witnessing the members of your Reiki class receiving Reiki energy during the attunement.

Of course they experience great joy. I believe that the vast majority of practitioners of Reiki are completely ignorant of the real source of the spiritual fire with which they play. While there are, I am sure, some scam artists among them, who are into this purely to fleece people of their money, I believe that most probably have been deceived into believing that they are actually doing something real and spiritual, and when they see others get the “energy” (get demonically possessed) the spirit within them (not their own, but the spiritual entity) probably delights in having deceived yet another person away from God. It must be especially thrilling for the entities when they can convince a Christian to reject God's truth in favor of their mystical hocus pocus.

As a teaching Reiki Master it is important to treat your students with the greatest respect. Know that each has the spark of God within them.

No, the only people who have God within them are those who confess and repent of their sins and ask Jesus to be their Lord and Savior, believing that He died and rose for them paying the penalty for their sins.

There is a perfect plan for your life that has always been present and has been waiting for you. This plan is not based on what your parents want for you, or what the culture says you need to be accepted, but on what will really make you happy. This plan is inside you and comes from your core essence. Reiki can guide you to this plan and help you follow it. This plan is your true spiritual path.

God does have a plan for everyone who gives themselves to Him. Romans 8:28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” It is true that our parents cannot determine what God's plan is for us, for only God knows that. We can only put our trust in Him to guide us in the path which He has chosen for us. Often God does put within us the desires that He wants us to pursue. That is one of His ways of leading us. But Reiki is not going to guide you in that. Reiki will only lead you down a path away from God, not to Him. If you choose the path of Reiki, your true spiritual path will lead to to hell, not to God.

In the end, we must consider that a Reiki Master is not one who has mastered Reiki, but one who has been mastered by Reiki. This requires that we surrender completely to the spirit of Reiki, allowing it to guide every area of our lives and become our only focus and source of nurturing and sustenance.

The first sentence here is very telling. The Reiki Master is not one who has mastered Reiki, but one who has been mastered. That is exactly correct. The spirit that is called upon when they trace the symbol on their hand and chant whatever it is they chant, is their master. It controls what they do and think. They surrender completely to this spirit, giving their soul over to the charge of Satan, allowing him to guide every area of their lives and to become their only focus. He becomes the source of their sustenance, which is in the end, death.

As we proceed toward the end of the millinium, the Way of Reiki offers itself as a solution to our problems and a path of unlimited potential.

The New Age has long taught that the Age of Aquarius is about to begin. A new age that will lead people to a higher level of consciousness, allowing them to “ascend.” Reiki is merely one more of those deceptions that Satan is using to deceive, letting them think that they are tapping into their unlimited potential, when in fact they are doing nothing except turning themselves over to the spirit world that is run by Satan.

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not.

Reiki is a religion in the sense that people are allowing a “god” into their lives to tell them what to do and think. It controls their actions and beliefs. There are a set of “ideals” which lay out a pattern of behavior, just as the Ten Commandments did, so do they not qualify as dogma? Just because they do not put a name on their god, does not mean that they do not have one. What they do not understand is that any religious/spiritual belief system, no matter what it is, if it is not the worship of Yahweh God and Jesus Christ is ultimately the worship of Satan. While Judaism does worship Yahweh, we know that they have incorporated many of the Babylonian mysteries into their worship, which Jesus – Yeshua, condemned. This too is a path that can lead to death. True Jews, the ones who have a true abiding faith in Yahweh, will one day accept their Messiah, when He returns. The statement that Reiki will work whether you have a belief or not just shows that it is not of God, for God does not hand out the gifts of the Spirit to those who do not believe in and belong to Him. Every Christian should know this, yet still some dabble in this occult practice.

The following comes from the website Reiki-light.org.

The Reiki can only be transfered to a student during a Reiki class during an "attunement" given by a Reiki master. This attunement process opens and aligns the student with this highest life-force healing energy, placing it into their crown chakras, moving it through their body and into their hands. Because Reiki is an energy it flows into the body along pathways called merridians and will unblock areas of built-up emotional energy.

The transference of the spiritual entity to a student was addressed above. Notice the use of the words “chakras” and “meridians” which is a dead give-away of the spiritual origins of this practice. The problem with people is not that their emotional energy has been blocked up. It is that they have sin of which they need to repent. Repentance has enormous power to unblock people's emotional and spiritual lives. Sometimes it even heals their physical problems.

To draw people in, Reiki promotes itself by making people believe it has the answer to all their problems, whether medical, spiritual, physical (things like weight loss), and emotional. Notice how it is promoted on this following website. Reikiinmedicine.org

Do you have a medical condition and want to feel better while supporting your health care?
Are you healthy but not sleeping well, maybe adding unwanted pounds?
Would you like to feel more engaged, more in control of your life and your health?
Do you sometimes feel isolated, hopeless to address the challenges of your life?
Do you want to develop your inner spiritual connection, on your own terms?

Reiki treatment can help.

Reiki may fool people into thinking they are helping them with their problems, but Reiki is a problem in and of itself, as it is a form of spiritual death to the people involved in it. A person cannot develop a spiritual connection on their own terms. God has set the terms for us to establish a connection with Him. It is called repentance, faith, and belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God who died for our sins and rose again defeating sin and death. These are the only terms for connecting to God.

If one is not concerned with the spiritual side of Reiki, but only the scientific, here is what has been found about Reiki from that aspect. The following comes from an article on Reiki in Wickipedia.

The concept of qi underlying Reiki is speculative and there is no scientific evidence that it exists; a 2008 systematic review of randomized clinical trials concluded that “the evidence is insufficient to suggest that Reiki is an effective treatment for any condition. Therefore the value of Reiki remains unproven. The American Cancer Society and the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine have also found that there is no clinical or scientific evidence supporting claims that Reiki is effective in the treatment of any illness.

Given all the Scriptures and information that Reiki practitioners provide about the practice, it is clear that Reiki is not something anyone should be involved with, but most importantly, it is not something with which a Christian should be dabbling. These days you will find medical doctors, chiropractors, massage therapists, nurses, and people from almost any walk of life practicing this on unwitting people. If you care about your spiritual life, you will stay far away from it. And you will be very careful about letting people who are into this, that may have reason to be touching you (for instance your medical doctor), lay hands on you. The Bible warns us about laying hands on others and allowing people to lay hands on us. 1 Timothy 5:22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.” The laying on of hands is not just innocently touching someone. Things can be passed to another that way. So we need to guard ourselves against those who would pass spiritual entities to us. Christians may not be able to be possessed, but they can be harassed and become obsessed about things from the influence of a demon. Look at the problem Christians are having with pornography addictions. Some suddenly find themselves having homosexual urges. All of these things come from demons and may have been passed to the person via others laying hands on them. The devil is a lion who seeks to destroy whomever he may. Do not let him destroy you. 1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” Stay away from Reiki.

  1. A drowning man will grab at ANY straw to stay alive. I know of people who live with terrible pain 24/7 and my heart cries for them that I can’t do more to help. The modern church is partly to blame. I know of one church where their ONLY message is get saved or you’ll burn in hell. They believe in all the suffering doctrines (trials, fasting, tithing, etc.) but when they hold Bible studies they skip over all references to miracles and spiritual gifts which healed people in the first century and say they’re no longer for today. What hope does the modern church hold out to people who are too weak to wait till they get to heaven to be set free from their awful pain? If you’re dying of thirst out in the middle of the ocean, you’ll drink any water you see, even the salt water which is bad for you. Living with a big vacuum in your hurting life is not an option for most people, like it or not.

    1. I understand what you are saying. I have suffered from chronic pain for over 30 years. I know how a person can get to the end of their rope and just be willing to try anything to stop the pain, or to save their lives. Right now I have been undergoing a battery of tests to try to find the cause of the severe pain I have been experiencing for months. I know how hard it is to not have a church to whom I can turn to follow God's prescription for healing. Or to not have Christian friends who understand these Scriptural ways of dealing with things, so are of no help either. The church has failed its flock. I readily admit that is a serious problem. The gifts of the spirit have either been quenched or allowed to get so out of line according to Scripture that they have crossed over into pagan practices. God's directives for this sort of thing have been ignored. But turning to what is essentially an occult or Satanic method of healing will help no Christian. It will only have dire consequences for them, possibly in this world and the next. If one is so desperate to preserve their life in this way, then will not one take the mark of the beast to try to cheat death when that comes along? What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world, but loses his soul? Even if we have no church, no friends to help us through these times, we still have the Lord. He is not called the Great Physician for nothing. We have to cast all our cares upon Him and, as we are told in Scripture, pray in faith that He will answer our prayer. God is aware how the church has failed its flock, but He is always there.

As for what you can do? If you are a born again believer, keep them from turning to Satan for healing. Pray for them. Anoint them with oil and pray over them. If the elders of the church won't do it, you do it. It has worked for me to simply have another Christian(s) do it, having had no other recourse. God is aware of the problem. He is merciful. Just follow the instructions in James to the best of your ability. Make sure repentance is a part of the cure, and believing in faith that this will be answered is essential on everyone's part.

  2. As a Reiki practioner, I have found myself closer to forgiving others and following the 10 commandments. How do you know Reiki is a demon? Do you really think a demon can heal people? How about you look at the REAL demonic aspects of society.War, murder, adultery, intoxication, lying, back stabbing, greed, hate, etc. If praying to Jesus keeps you in check, you don't need Reiki. I have found Reiki to have a positive effect on me and thus I cannot subscribe to the demon theory. Trust me, if you meet a demon, he cannot hide his true colors.

    1. Kevin, in answer to your questions, yes, a demon can heal people, for often demon will inflict a pseudo disease so that they can then trick people into following things like Reiki, because they will then "heal" them. It's just shamanism wrapped up in another name. Yes, a demon can hide his true colors and they do a good share of the time. 2 Cor. 11:13-15 " For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."

We are told that the demons deliberately put on a facade of righteousness to try to deceive. Their human puppets may or may not be aware they are being used in this way. It depends on if they are in league, or if they are deceived, as I believe you are. We are warned about it, so should be aware of it and avoid it. Even Satan can transform himself into an angel of light and he does all the time. And why wouldn't he? Who would follow him otherwise? Only the truly evil. People on the fence (want to be good, but don't want Jesus alone) need an angel of light to convince them to fall over onto his side. People want special "powers" because then they feel special. Satan gives them that. Christ on the other hand asks for sacrifice of self. People don't like that.

As for the REAL demonic aspects of society, of course all evil is manipulated by them, but so also is a false righteousness. If all Satan did was to do evil, a lot of people would turn from him, but he cloaks himself as something good in a variety of ways to deliberately lead people, who do not study the Word of God in its entirety, astray. And these days that is so easy he doesn't even have to work hard at it. Even Christians are flocking to his lies and adopting them. He makes people feel they are righteous (Like you said, you are forgiving and follow the ten commandments - neither of which by themselves will get you into heaven. You have to accept and obey Christ.), while all the time they are missing the mark - not accepting Christ which is the only way into heaven, or jeopardizing their salvation if they are Christians. You said if praying to Jesus keeps me in check I don't need Reiki. Well praying to Jesus is the only thing that will truly do anything for you. There is no substitute for Him. All these other New Age things (which are actually Old Age things) are just bad imitations of the REAL thing. The only thing these other things will do for you in the end is keep you out of heaven, if you count on them instead of Christ.

  3. This is a message for Sean V. You are wrong that I delete everybody who disagrees with me. You only have to read some of my other articles to see that I allow and engage in dialogue with many who vehemently attack me and get nasty as did you. But I always answer and refute their arguments. I deleted your comments and my responses, because 1)I do not leave views unanswered which are in direct violation of what God teaches without a response, because new and Scripturally ignorant Christians might be misled by the error ridden responses of your "Christian" reiki group to the questions that were posed in your post, and you left such a long list that I simply do not have the time to respond right now. 2)Not everyone who calls themselves a Christian is one, and unfortunately it seems that the vast majority of Christians are sadly extremely ignorant of what God says in His ENTIRE word, thus they operate on error, which is what this so-called "Christian" reiki group does. Therefore I will not allow their website. They have their own website to peddle their error, they will not be allowed to advertise on mine any more than I suspect they would allow me to advertise on theirs given what I say 3)Unless you have studied the occult and New Age movement (which I have done in depth) you do not recognize those things in the more subtle forms, which reiki is. 4) You personally seem to lack Biblical understanding of how salvation is given, and I cannot allow that to stand unanswered for fear that someone might read it and think it true. 5) I not only am going to allow your comments and nastiness toward me to be posted, I intend to place them in an article of their own where I answer what you say. Thus are my reasons for deleting them at the moment. In honor of your comment toward my not allowing a "fair and balanced view", and so you can find it if interested when it is published, I am calling it, A Fair and Balanced View?

    1. My problem with your way of thinking is that it demonises just about everything other than your narrow definition of christianity. As you do this you put fear and suspician into people and insult many many decent people. Do you really think that only baptised christians have a relationship with God, i believe that everybody has a relationship with God, for he created and sustains everybody. You even hold views of deep suspicians of other christian sects that dont hold your precise interpretations of the ancient texts. if God's nature is love and forgiveness (as jesus revealed), why am i only feeling fear and suspician in your writing?
you mention that you felt nastiness because i questioned your beliefs but this wasn't meant, i just want you to see that your views are insulting and attacking to the majority of people. most people who read the bible come to a much more moderate understanding of its meaning than you have, that's the truth. i fully expect you to remove this too, you wouldn't want anybody thinking that you didn't hold the only version of truth.

    2. I see no need to remove this comment as you are not presenting and teaching a belief that I feel is dangerous and unscriptural. You are merely insulting me. I don't care what people think of me. You feel I am narrow-minded. No, I just relate what God's Word says and teaches. If there is narrow-mindedness, it is His, not mine. If it is insulting, it is His Word doing the insulting. I am not the author, simply the messenger. The views are not my own, they are based on His Word.

The fact that you don't care for the message is not my problem. It will be yours, for God has said that the way to Him is narrow and few will find it. His Words, not mine. The only way to God is through Christ and through having a personal relationship with Him. His Words, not mine. If you don't have Christ as your Savior, you don't have a relationship with God. Period. Because He says so, not because I say so.

Baptism is an ordinance of obedience, but it isn't required to make it into heaven, or the thief on the cross wouldn't have gotten there. I do not fear Satan's lies for myself, for I have found the truth, but I do fear for those who would be led astray, as you apparently have, and are sacrificing their eternity with God for an eternity without Him, because they refuse to follow the only road that God has provided to get back to Him. We have no ability to access God through our own efforts. Once can only access Him through the way He has provided, which is through Jesus Christ. Again, His Words, not mine.

"Moderate" Christians pick and choose what they want out of the Bible. God said that won't work. He expects obedience to all of His Word, not just what you want to believe. His Words, not mine. If you don't want to get on that road, that is your choice. I am only here to warn you that there are consequences to that. I didn't make the rules, I just tell you what they are. If you want to kill the messenger, then kill me. The Bible says that this is what will happen to the followers of Christ. The world will hate them for the message they bring. His Words, not mine, even though I don't care for them in this case, I accept them as the consequence of telling His truth. I know that my relationship with Christ will allow me into heaven, so I'm not worried.

And apparently you didn't read the message I wrote to you, for I did say that I would put your comments back up, but in an article of their own where I could show the error in your thinking. Maybe you didn't read my article above at all, or maybe you would understand why reiki is wrong. I find that many people skim my articles, just as they skim the Bible, thinking they know what it says and choosing the parts they want to see, but don't really read and study what it says. I quote a lot of info from Reiki proponents and show Scripturally why it is wrong. Did you really go through what I said with a fine tooth comb, because I can assure you that I intend to go through what you wrote and do so in my article when I write it. And I don't insult people personally as you have done upon my character. I merely tell them what God says about certain subjects. If they self-apply that because they feel it applies to them, it is God's convicting them, not my insulting them. My articles are not written at a personal level aimed at certain individuals. They are merely telling people what God says about certain beliefs and behaviors. So it is not insulting people on a personal level, nor is it my opinion that matters on the subject, it only matters what God says, and that is what I relate. There are times when I find I do not necessarily agree with what God has decreed, but that doesn't change the truth or what He says, so I have to accept it. That is the difference between us. I accept His Word, you do not.

  4. In response to point 5) of what you have posted to me before -For you to remove my comments that i made in response to this article but to use them out of context in a different article, to prove your arguments, is of course very misleading. do you do this all the time in your blogs- using material out of context to prove your ideas. can you see nothing wrong with this?

Secondly In response to your next response, there are many instances in the bible where differing authors hold differing and even opposing ideas than each other and most of it is open to interpretation. this is not to mention that precise meaning can be altered through translations. A fine example of this is your interpretation of reiki compared with the christian reiki group's interpretation- both of you fervanantly believe your correct and both quote the bible to back up your beliefs, and both of you consider that you are christians who are following jesus into heaven- but you are somehow holding diametrically opposing views. i'm sorry if you feel offended and im glad for you that you feel happy with your faith but reiki for most, is an important way to connect more deeply with the peace of god and for you to suggest that its source is demonic and not pure, to the contrary to what they have ever experienced with it, is unpleasant. there is nothing written in the bible that says that reiki is evil or that healing is carried out by demons and devils- to the contrary most of the healing in the bible is carried by jesus, who then says that the things that i do so will you. i seem to recall a quote in the bible where jesus is approached, after performing a healing, with the accusation that the source of his healing power is suspicious and not from god, to which he dismisses them by saying words to the effect of- how can something which is inately evil do something that is good- it goes against his nature.

    1. Why do you assume your comments will be taken out of context? That's an unwarranted assumption. I plan on telling people to read this article first, because I definitely want the to do that. Then I plan on just copy pasting your comments one at a time and refuting them. It seems your attitude is one of determination to see the worst in me. That's fine. As for disagreements on what God will and won't accept. When you have studied the Bible in its entirety instead of taking their word for it because they have chosen to pick and choose, and you still feel I am wrong, then so be it. But you are taking their word that what they say is correct in God's eyes and you are insisting my interpretation is wrong, yet I would bet that you have not studied the book in depth from cover to cover as I have and can refute me on your own. So please do not tell me that I have to be the one in error, when you do not have the depth of study behind your own self to refute me. Using others words instead of your own does not impress me. I think we have discussed this enough and I know I have spent more time than I have right now bothering with this. As I said, come back in a few months and maybe I'll have the other article up by then and you can start this all over again.

    2. i know reiki well enough to know that it is not evil.

No where in the Bible do we find an instance where Satan healed someone. Satan tempts people to sin but Satan does not heal people. Furthermore, in Luke 6:44, Jesus says, "Each tree is recognized by its own fruit." Which is to say that if something is beneficial and helps people, and those results are long lasting such as the healing people receive from Reiki, then it must be good and come from God.

In I Corinthians 14:1 Paul tell us to eagerly desire spiritual gifts. In I Corinthians 12: 28 Paul says that healing is one of the gifts. Paul also says that each of the gifts is best expressed with love. Also, Jesus is quoted in John 14:12 as saying, "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father." We know that Jesus practiced laying on hands type healing, therefore, it is scriptural for Christian to practice healing by laying on hands.

i wish you much peace, joy and happiness in your life, i'm sorry if you feel that i offended you but i felt i couldn't leave all of your assertions unchallenged.

    3. Thank you for the gracious parting words. I do wish you well also, and above all I pray that you would come to the knowledge of the truth of Christ and that He is the only way to God, and that He does not approve of things involved with paganism. However, just as you cannot leave my words unchallenged, I cannot leave yours either. Since I teach God's Word, I cannot leave your comments unanswered for fear that someone might think that they cannot be answered and become confused on the issue, plus I do feel I am entitled to the last word, as this is my blog. My reply will probably need several posts due to restrictions of size.

Let me take your comments one at a time.

      1) "i know reiki well enough to know that it is not evil."

The problem is - do you and your reiki practitioners who say they are Christians know God's Word well enough to know whether or not HE thinks it is evil, because God is the authority on whether something is or is not evil. We are not. Our opinions don't matter, only what God says matters. In the article above, I point out where the evil in this is according to God's Word. For one thing it is pagan in origin and practice, and we are to have nothing to do with paganism. God had a lot to say about that in the Bible. People ignore this instruction to their peril. Look what it has done to Israel. And look at what it has done to the Church.

    4. 2) "Nowhere in the Bible do we find an instance where Satan healed someone. Satan tempts people to sin but Satan does not heal people."

I agree that it does not outright state that Satan heals people, but it is stated and demonstrated that he gives powers to others to perform miracles, of which healing is one, and so if he can give the power to others, he can certainly do it himself, and in fact I don't suspect he is personally the one behind reiki healings, I think his minions are, as he is not omnipresent, so has better things to do. He has to delegate. In Matthew 7:21-23 Christ tells us " Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, (those who say they are Christians) shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father (follow God's Word in obedience) which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, (those who claim to be Christians) have we not prophesied in thy name? (pseudo gift of the Spirit, which Christ says He has no part of) and in thy name have cast out devils? (pseudo gift of the Spirit, which Christ says He has no part of) and in thy name done many wonderful works? (pseudo miraculous gifts of the Spirit, which Christ says He has no part of) And then will I profess unto them, I NEVER knew YOU: depart from me, ye that work INIQUITY (sin)."

If Christ NEVER knew them, then they are not really Christians even if they claim to be, and they are not getting their power from God through Christ, because He is not the author of iniquity. So if Christ says that their works are sinful (even if they produce good results) then their power (which is in imitation of the gifts of the spirit) has to be coming from Satan, who is the author of iniquity. In the very endtimes, Satan will give power to the beast and false prophet to do all sorts of miracles to deceive people to draw them away from God, including raising the dead, which is a whole lot more of a miracle than healing someone of aches and pains or illness. Revelation 13:3- 4, 11-14 "And I saw one of his heads as it were WOUNDED TO DEATH; and his deadly wound was HEALED: and all the world wondered after the beast. And they worshipped the dragon (Satan) which GAVE POWER unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? .... And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb (a false religious figure, and due to the mention of a lamb, it is assumed the person comes out of Christianity in imitation of or possibly claiming to be Jesus, who is the Lamb of God), and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the POWER of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose DEADLY WOUND WAS HEALED. (By whom? It certainly isn't by God.) And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those MIRACLES which he had POWER to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live." So can Satan heal? Absolutely. Scripture confirms he can do all sorts of miracles, even raising the dead (or possibly a pseudo raising of the dead). And he gives power to those who want those powers as well.

    5. 3)"Furthermore, in Luke 6:44, Jesus says, "Each tree is recognized by its own fruit." Which is to say that if something is beneficial and helps people, and those results are long lasting such as the healing people receive from Reiki, then it must be good and come from God."

I'm afraid there is an error in your logic. We already know from Scripture that Satan can perform any kind of miracle. He will do whatever he has to do to deceive people, even if it has the appearance of good, including imitating the fruits of the Spirit. If shamans and practitioners of occult magic were not having good results, do you think people would continue to go to them and be deceived into thinking it is a way to God? Of course not. Satan is not stupid. He'll do good for the sake of leading people away from God. Good or true results do not mean that it is from God. If it lines up with God's Word and ways as well, then it is from God. Refer to the passages about prophets below to see what I mean.

It is not just the gift of the Spirit which should be checked upon to see if it is a true gift, it is the life of the individual practicing that gift. Are they a born again Christian? If not, then right there, we are done, for if they are not, this is not of God. If a Christian, are they living for the Lord in obedience? Are they checking their practices against the Word of God to make sure they have not strayed off into anything with pagan roots? Is their doctrine true to the Word of God? Or, if Christians, are they totally compromised and living in a way that Satan has entrance into their lives to use them for his purposes? All of these things must be considered, for not everything that you might consider "good" necessarily has to be coming from God.

    6. An easy example is people prophesying. This is a gift of the Spirit and as such, if it comes true, should always be good according to your criteria, right? If it comes true, it must be from God, correct? No, not according to God. There is criteria to follow to determine if something is from Him or from Satan and the "good" results are not the only criteria, for results can be good and still not be from God. I can't even begin to tell you how many self-proclaimed prophets of God are on Youtube, who are so sure that God has given them a prophecy which inevitably always turns out to be false. So who did they get the prophecy from? Predicting the day of the rapture tops the list of prophecies. There are dozens of people all with different dates. So God gave all of them a different date? Not likely. And once the date is passed, they look like fools, and God is shamed. All because they do not follow God's Word in testing the spirits. For we are told to test the spirits that give us information or help us. 1 John 4:1 "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world." What does God say in His word about prophets? He not only tells them that false prophets should be put to death, but if they prophesy and the thing comes TRUE, and yet it is NOT IN ACCORDANCE with God's Word (so if it is not God giving them the true prophecy, who is it?), they are to be put to death. God allows (He permits Satan the power to deceive) these false prophecies to come true to test His people to see if they know His Word and will obey it.

Deuteronomy 13:1-5 "If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God PROVETH (tests) you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee." It is not just prophecy to which this appertains. It is any information or "spirit" given thing. God will allow Satan to deceive Christians who are messing with occult practices to see if they will be obedient to Him and stay away from pagan practices, just as He tested Israel. It is not just prophecy that God will allow Satan to duplicate to test us. He will allow him to do any miracle, including healing.

    7. 4) "In I Corinthians 14:1 Paul tell us to eagerly desire spiritual gifts. In I Corinthians 12: 28 Paul says that healing is one of the gifts. Paul also says that each of the gifts is best expressed with love. Also, Jesus is quoted in John 14:12 as saying, "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father." We know that Jesus practiced laying on hands type healing, therefore, it is scriptural for Christian to practice healing by laying on hands."

And therein lies the issue. Jesus said only those who have faith IN HIM will be able to do these things. Paul tells born again Christians, not just anybody, to eagerly desire the gifts of the Spirit which are ONLY bestowed upon those who are born again Christians, because ONLY born again Christians are indwelt by the Holy Spirit. One must believe that Christ is the ONLY way to God, accept Him as their Savior and hopefully Lord (for those are two distinctly different steps of salvation - one can ask for and get forgiveness, but giving Christ the lordship over your life is a whole different thing), and only then will God give someone a gift. And you have no say over what the gift will be. In reiki, I think anybody who wants to can practice it, whether they are a born again Christian or not, and, if born again, whether or not the Spirit has given them the gift of healing. You do not choose the gift. The gift is given to you so that the body of Christ (local church) might have all that is needed for its edification, so God gives you the gift He feels you should have for that purpose. And healing and the other miraculous gifts do not appear to have been handed out in spades. I have yet in my 62 years of living, of the dozens of churches I have attended and the dozens more that I am familiar with through friends and family, and the thousands of Christians I have met over my years EVER met anyone with the miraculous gifts of healing or performing miracles. They are very rare. Reiki is for anyone regardless. It seems that all they have to do is want it and call upon whatever "spirit power" or god they want to, to use it. Well, since God is extremely selective in whom He is bestowing the gift, it is not God who is the source behind reiki, as being a reiki healer is open to anyone of any faith. No requirements needed.

Added to that is the fact that the spiritual gifts were given as a ministry for the edification of the church, not for earning an occupation off of unbelievers and believers alike. I Corinthians 14:12 "Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church." The gifts are given for the benefit of the body of Christ, not for plying a trade in the world. Now will we exercise some of them as a MINISTRY outside of the church, yes, as there are some that are for that purpose such as evangelism. But for the most part, the gifts are for the edification of the church not to give someone an occupation.

    8. Now as to the laying on of hands. Yes, laying on hands accompanied with prayer to God through Jesus Christ is the method by which any healing would take place from a person with the gift of healing, as nobody has power of their own, the power is Christ's and we are but a conduit, but there is also another way that provides healing, and there are some requirements that must accompany healing, regardless, which reiki is not requiring. James 5:14-16 "Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

If we are sick, we are not to seek out a reiki practitioner in their office. As Christians we are to follow the protocol given above in James. If there is one with the gift of healing in the church, then this person would definitely be a person that would be sought out for the process described above, but few churches seem to have someone with the gift, so the elders would be the prayer warriors you would seek out. The protocol is, first you contact the elders of the church. They will anoint you and pray over you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, but before they do that, look at what else is mentioned as necessary. Confess your sins, and this does not just apply to the one seeking the healing, but everyone involved in the process. The reason for this is that sin hampers our prayers from reaching God's ears. And sin will hamper your being healed. Does reiki require this of the people involved? It is the fervent prayer of a RIGHTEOUS man that gets results, as it says above.

Those who are in disobedience or sin do not get a hearing. Proverbs 28:9 "He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination." God's law are the Commandments, which Christ said if we love Him, we will obey. So one must repent before seeking healing in prayer, for prayer will not be heard if there is a hindrance. Not only is healing given, but forgiveness is also given with the healing.

And lastly one must ask in faith, for only the prayer of faith will the healing be effective. James 1:6-7 "But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord." And the faith is not in the reiki practitioner's abilities, or in some universal benevolent force, but in God through the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and Physician. For healing to be effected, according to God's Word, these conditions should be met. To my knowledge, reiki is meeting none of the conditions of God's Word. If a Christian truly does have the gift of healing, they need to disassociate themselves completely from reiki and follow God's Word in practicing their gift, for reiki's source is from paganism, and is practiced by pagans. Christians are not to be yoked to paganism. It is a sin. They are to be exercising this gift within the Body (meaning within the Body of Christ, not just the local church) for its edification. Or if they do take it outside the Church it must be coupled with evangelism, for that is the great commission we were given.

    9. Many people come to my blog looking not for what the Bible says, but to find someone who will say that God approves of whatever they want to do - whatever sin they are committing, whatever false doctrine they want to believe, or whatever behavior they want to indulge in. When they don't find what they want to hear, they get upset and start attacking not only what I relate that the Bible says, but me personally. This does not bother me, for God's Word stands against the arrows of the enemy, whether people want to accept it or not, and I don't care what people want to call me or think of me, as Christ said I would be rewarded when people speak ill of me for standing for Him. When I write an article I take lots and lots of time to research the subject, and then I go through the Bible to find anything that remotely would address that subject, so that I cover everything God says and don't take things out of context. Then I write what God has to say on the subject. If people don't want to hear what God's Word has to say, that is their prerogative, but I am not going to back down from the truth and tell them what they want to hear just to make them happy, for God will hold ME responsible for that. If they choose to turn from the truth, then God holds THEM responsible for that.

      Delete
    10. Now I have a rhetorical question for you. How did you find my article? Why did even you go looking for an article on whether or not Christians should be practicing reiki, if you already have convinced yourself that it is okay with God? I don't go looking for articles to see if people will agree with or confirm what I do or believe. I go directly to the Word of God if I question something. It matters not to me what others think, as long as I know what God thinks. Was something inside of you not quite sure and you were looking for confirmation of God's approval? When faced with two opposing Christian views on the subject, you chose to side with the one that approves your decision, because that is what you want to believe, and you want God to approve what you want to believe. You are not necessarily seeking for truth, you are seeking God's approval for something which you have already decided is okay. In my article you ran into a great many Scriptures (And they are only the tip of the iceberg. The article was long enough.) that said otherwise, and it upset you. I get this same thing from people commenting on other articles. They come searching to see what the Bible says about something, because they want approval on their sin or doctrine or whatever, and when they don't get it here, they get angry and strike out at me. One person said to me verbatim, "How dare you not give me your approval." (for the sin they wanted to indulge in). I'm not here to give MY approval or disapproval. Why would anyone need or want it anyhow? Nobody knows me. It shouldn't matter whether I approve or not. God's approval is the only one that anyone needs. I'm here to tell you what God's Word says. Whether or not you want to accept that truth is up to you, but I cannot extend God's approval where He clearly has not given it. If you were so certain that what you were practicing has God's approval, you would not have searched out to see what other Christians had to say on the subject. You didn't get what you wanted to hear. Armed with the idea of having a fair and balanced view presented (God isn't concerned with fair and balanced, He's only concerned with obedience) you tried to justify the practice by pointing to and quoting others who say they are Christians who are trying to justify their participating in a pagan practice by quoting Scriptures that suited their purpose (anything can be justified by taking Scriptures out of context or in part instead the whole). If a Christian were to have the gift of healing, this is not using it the way God's Word says it should be practiced. This is participating in a pagan practice. Nor does reiki fit the requirements of how one will receive the gift of healing, since a relationship with Christ is not required in reiki, but it is required by God. This is trying to put a Christian veneer over a pagan practice. The Church unfortunately has done that with a whole lot of things, not just this. And shame on them for doing it. If you want to believe that God is okay with that, it is your choice. God does not force anyone to obey Him, but choices have consequences. Just remember that once you have been given the truth and rejected it, God holds you that much more guilty of ignoring it.

    11. response part 1 - very strong and again excessively long response. there was lots of points that i disagree with but like you i'm very busy and havent got the time and inclination to answer all of them.

the reason that i came across your blog was not looking for some sort of confirmation from god, as you presume but actually because somebody that i know who is a christian who had been having occasionally reiki sessions as a therapy for several years had stopped having them because somebody had told here that it wasn't a godly practice- so i did a bit of research to see what the varying christian views were about it- yours i found to be the most fervant opinion.

i think that there are lots of ways that i differ from you in my outlook. firstly i don't believe that the bible is the literal word of god, i believe that it is god inspired yes, but written by man, many , many men over a long period of time- but all, along time ago in ancient languages.

linking onto that last point i noticed that you mention in the article of hows the jews were influenced by the babylonian mystery tradition and so have somehow been tainted by that, i researched this too from christian sources and it seems that when rome adopted christianity and made it into a formalised religion- the roman catholic church - much of the practices, observances and festivals that they practiced and still practice today were adopted from the babylonian mystery tradition. these practices are nowhere to found in the bible either -included in these are lent, much of the easter and xmas tradional activities, celibate monks and nuns, taking wafers at mass, shaved tops of the heads, the bishops mitres, plus much else. in fact it seems that the roman catholic church is in effect a splicing together of 2 different traditions together to make a new one. at this time many of the early christian material was rejected as the new testament was compiled- much of the rejected material certainly put a different spin on the understanding of christ's message, we know this from ancient manuscripts unearthed in recent decades.

i also believe that christ's description of the nature of god to be very different if not contrary from that of the old testament and was meant to correct the old jewish misunderstandings of gods nature. the loving and forgiving god of jesus seems very different to the vengeful, jealous god of the old testament.

another thing that colours my view of christianity is that for many many years i have read up and studied many different religions and spiritual philosophies- so i can see what they all have in common. by doing this it becomes possible to see what the essence of all religions are- but it has also given a differing view about what the nature of God is. it stops my having such a narrow and fixed view of God and i tend to have a more embracing accepting attitude to other faiths.

    12. Just in case you missed it, as my answers were long, I did say that the Christian church had adopted many pagan practices (and beliefs) much to their shame. My desire is that the church would rid itself of that stuff, as God will not hold them guiltless.

I take the Word of God at face value (I prefer that to the word "literally" for people tend to then throw obvious metaphors at me to say that I don't take it all literally. Obviously I understand grammatical structures.) If one does not take it at face value then it can mean anything and as a consequence means nothing. God wants us to understand and the best way to do that was say what He means. The God of the O.T. is the same God in the N.T. It is only in understanding God's character and His entire plan of salvation that you understand how it all works together and how and why He is operating in different ways at different times. He is still very much a God of wrath. Try reading Revelation.

Yes, I do believe that Christ is the only way to God. He came and showed through His life and miracles and death and resurrection that He was sent by God to save us from our sins. Nobody else can save us. There is only one way. You have chosen to reject that way, and that is your choice. God doesn't force anyone.

My hope and prayer for you is that you will come to a knowledge of the truth before it is too late. I know you are convinced of your belief, and I respect your right to that, and I wish you well, but I sorrow that one day you will find that I was telling you the truth and it will be too late.

  5. response part 2 - i cant help but feeling that although christianity is a wonderful and true way to develop a deeper relationship with a meaninful life, it is only one way not the only way. you of course would disagree based upon the interpretation of the translation of a statement attributed to jesus- i am the way, the truth and the light- nobody comes to the father but through me. to me there could be other ways to view this statement. it doesn't necessarily mean that christianity is the only religion to get in touch with god- but this is how many christian's take it. there was of course no christianity when he said this. It could easily instead mean that what Jesus's life represents are the way, the truth and the life and that living a similar life of prioritising the same ideals as him is the way to live to reconnect in harmony with god's true nature (which is also our own true nature). most of the other religious traditions also hold up similar ideals of more fully expressing man's higher nature and practicing and developing inner virtues and living a life more in service than in selfishness, thus reconnecting with god's as well as our own true higher nature.

i hope now that i have explained a little about my belief structure that you may now see that i just hold different views than you and it isnt that i am being manipulated by demons or that i am attacking you in any way.

we may have to agree to differ though i think. but i do sincerely wish you much love, light and peace in your life.

  6. thanks for your response, i do appreciate you engaging me like this.
just so that i can fully grasp your perspective, can you just explain for me briefly what God is from your understanding?
you could just summarise it in couple of paragraphs.
thank you in advance for your patience.

    1. Sorry for my long answers, but it is that thoroughness to cover every contingency when I am researching and writing that makes me sure that I have understood and present God's Word correctly. I will try to be more concise this time, but you are asking me to describe God. That is not an easy thing to do in a paragraph or two, so I'm sorry if I have trouble condensing it to something so short.

God is a being who lives outside of and is not restricted by time and matter, because He created it. God is righteous, just, merciful, and loving among other things. He created mankind because He wanted someone to love, who would freely love Him in return. God, being righteous and just cannot allow evil to go unpunished. But God is merciful, so He had to reconcile both of those things, for true justice leaves no room for mercy. Knowing in advance that mankind would rebel and sin against Him, He sought a way to save that creation before He created it. That part of Him which is called the Son (Christ) agreed to pay the penalty for our sins that justice demands, so that God could then show us mercy and forgive us, if we accepted Christ's paying the penalty for us.

The Bible in its entirety is the story of that plan and the redemption of mankind and the planet. It is a complex love story which is not understood by most, because they 1) do not accept that God created us and 2)don't accept that we sinned against Him and there is a penalty for that and 3) don't study it. At times God looks like He is a bully, but once one understands the entire picture and process, there is a very good reason for everything that God does. If I just looked at Hiroshima, I would not understand why it took place. You need to know the whole story. The Bible is the same. God will not force anyone to accept His Son's great sacrifice to redeem us. He wants your love out of your choice, not by force. Those who do not want to take that gift nor want Him in their lives under His conditions are given their desire. Upon death they are sent to the one place that God has said He will not enter to bother them and where they can pay the penalty themselves, Hell. People send themselves there, because they don't want to accept the way He provided to get them back. Hell is simply what exists when God's presence is not there. It is the absence of all that is good. That is why it is so horrible. God does not want anyone to go there, but justice demands that a penalty be paid, and if you don't want Christ's substitution for you, you must pay it yourself, and therefore He can't offer mercy. Once you accept His gift, He asks that you follow His commandments so that sin does not continually put a barrier between you and Him. And the Ten Commandments are all about love. And that, in as short as I can make it, is who I know God to be.

  7. thanks.
are you a pentacostal/ born again christian or what sect?
did you have any personal spiritual experience with god, or did you just get bought up with the teachings, read the bible and believe the teaching?
hope you don't mind me asking
    thanks

  8. No, I don't mind at all that you are asking. I am what is called born again. If you need an explanation of what that means, simply ask. I am by no means Pentacostal. I am not the type for that sort of uber emotional thing, and having carefully examined and tested their manifestations which they are calling the gifts of the Spirit, I can say that much of it is phony, which really upsets and annoys me. I'm afraid that I put everything under a microscope and weigh it against Scripture before I will accept it. I'm not saying everyone is phony or faking, but much of it is, and it gives Christianity a bad name, as does all this apostasy and compromise. God has a lot to say about the Church and where it is at these days in the prophecies in the Bible. It is headed to some big-time chastisement. But that's off topic.

I'm not a part of any sect or denomination. I and many others who are of the same mind as myself, think of ourselves as remnant Christians. That means that just as the Pilgrims of the Mayflower rejected the Church of its day as being far from what the Bible said (and I'm a direct descendant of one of those Pilgrims), so separated themselves from the organized Church, (and were ostracized and punished for it) there are those of us who have basically pulled out of the organized Church, because we feel that they have strayed so far from what the Bible really teaches that it isn't even recognizable as what the Bible says. And that has brought the same result to most of us. Many Christians will not abide us, and throw us out of churches, because we object to the paganism and such. That doesn't mean to say that we don't attend churches at all. I do on and off as God leads me to various churches, (until I'm asked to leave, lol) but I am okay with not going also, as my relationship is not with the Church, as so many seem to base their relationship with God on, but on Jesus personally. It's like any other relationship I have with any other person. It's one on one, not through some organization or other person.

    1. I was brought up in a Christian home, but that really means nothing. Becoming a Christian is a very personal thing and many of those I knew who were brought up in Christian homes have walked away from it. My father was the most godly man I ever knew. He walked with God and if ever a person was the personification of love, apart from Christ, my dad was it. He was a fantastic example. My mother on the other hand had a Christianity that seemed to be more of a lifestyle than a personal experience. She did not want me, and she would tell me I was bad and abuse me from the time I was little. My father didn't see a lot of what was going on. As a result I thought myself a very bad person, for why else would a mother not love you? When I was four I was attending a Vacation Bible School (something that many churches do in the summer to get the kids out from underfoot) and they were telling the story of Jesus death for our sins with a flannelgraph board. It wasn't just a story for me at that point. It became personal. I knew I was bad or sinful, and here was this loving, perfect man (God incarnate but I don't know if I understood that at the time) who took all the beatings I deserved, and died in my place for my sins so that God could forgive and love me. It struck directly into my heart and I sobbed my little heart out. They didn't know what was wrong with me, but for me it was personal. VERY personal He died for ME. I knew what beatings were and He took them for ME. From that point on I was His. And that's how it has been every since. He has always come through for me no matter what has happened. He's saved my life several times, He's gotten me out of scrapes that I had no idea what to do, and in fact I was the recipient of one miracle. One that took me outside of time. I know that sounds ridiculous, but there is no explanation for what happened to me that the law of physics can explain. And it was at a very crucial time. I would, and most likely with what is coming, will die for Him. He died for me. I owe Him.

Now you might say, well didn't you ever investigate other beliefs and such to be sure. Oh, yes, I am a terrible skeptic and don't take anybody's word for anything, so of course I have looked at other beliefs. But in the end the God of Christianity and the Bible hold truths that others just can't match up to. I am an investigator of all things, so have learned much. I was taught a whole lot of wrong beliefs in the Church, so abandoned them and started from scratch to see what the Bible really taught. That is why I have ended up where I am at. Does that answer your question?

    1. You are full of questions, aren't you. lol

Okay, this is going to take a little turn to things that you aren't expecting to help describe Him. There is not a tremendous amount written about the Holy Spirit. What I can tell you is that He (not it) is the second (or third depending on how you look at it) person in the Trinity. God is three persons in one which is a hard concept to grasp, because each of God's personas has a manifestation apart from the other two. The reason we are made in God's image is because just as He is a Trinity, He created us as a trinity also. But we maintain all three parts of ourselves in one body instead of three different but connected manifestations. But then, we aren't God.

The easiest part of the trinity to understand is the body. We have a body, which corresponds to Christ's place in the Trinity, as He was the physical incarnation of God on earth. Before the incarnation He was known as the Angel of the Lord and appeared to people in that state as God on earth. He willingly submits to the headship of God the Father. Our body is corrupt and not redeemable which is why God has us die, so that He can give us a new perfect body in the resurrection. Believe it or not the body (just as Christ has His own mind apart from the Father) has a mind of its own. It wants to and craves sin. It leads us to do sinful things. It has sinful desires and acts upon them.

The Holy Spirit is that person who is according to Isaiah 11, the source of wisdom, understanding, counsel, knowledge, and a few other things. He is referred to in theological circles as the seven-fold spirit because of His seven characteristics. He provides the link between God and man. He is the manifestation of God's righteous spirit and indwells those who accept Christ as their Savior to lead us to live in righteousness. Corresponding to that, we have an eternal spirit that either connects to God or is disconnected from God. In spiritual language the spirit disconnected from God is said to be "dead,” because it has no influence over man except possibly for evil. It is.....dead in that sense. So our spirit is either "dead" or "alive" (born again), and is the second part of our being and is the source of righteousness in our lives after we accept Christ. He gives us wisdom, knowledge, etc. of God. Once a spirit is born again, the righteous spirit comes in conflict with the sinful body and a tug of war ensues for every Christian, for just about everything. The flesh wants to do one thing, the spirit another. It's a constant battle between the two parts of our trinity.

    2. God the Father is the one whose will is obeyed by the other two. Someone has to be in charge in an ordered society, lol. The other two willingly submit to God's final decisions and will. Our corresponding part to that is our will/intellect/personality. It is eternal and will survive death whether born again or not. It will either go to heaven or hell, depending on what the condition of our spirit (dead or alive) is. It is the one who makes the final decision when the spirit and flesh come into conflict. Sometimes it will give in to the flesh's demands, and sometimes it will side with the spirit, but whatever it decides, the other two have to submit to it, just as the Holy Spirit and Christ submit to the Father. That is how you learn to resist sin after you are born again. The will has (by your choice to accept Christ) chosen the path of righteousness and so with the Holy Spirit's help it learns to overcome the desires of the flesh and turn from sin and side with the perfect spirit that has been born again. Now do we always to that? No. Unfortunately, the flesh is very strong and we all continue to give in to sin on occasion. That is why you have to constantly repent to keep the communication lines open with God.

I realize it is probably a totally new concept to think that you have several "persons" with a will of their own housed in your body, but it is true.

The Holy Spirit whose physical manifestation is not described in Scripture, is the Person who guides, teaches, helps, counsels and does all sorts of things for us. He prays for us when we don't know what to pray, because we are too distressed. He is not a force as some think, He is a person. Just a very quiet one in Scripture as far as telling us about Him. We only know that He is God's spirit or presence inside us when we accept the Lord as our Savior, to direct and guide and help us.

As to what effect does He have on me? He is my conscience. He has helped me to understand the Scriptures when they were hard to understand. He helps me make decisions. He can direct me to do things, when I don't understand why I am doing it, and then things happen that are to my benefit. He really kind of runs my life - when I let Him. I am not sinless by any means, and when I do sin it gets in the way of the communication, just as any disagreement gets in the way of people's relationships. Unfortunately I still haven't learned to resist giving in to the flesh occasionally. But then nobody else can either. Nobody's perfect. And that kind of sums up who the Holy Spirit is.

  11. Hi Connie,
I am a Christian and stumbled onto your site after getting an on the phone "Energy Reading & Spiritual Guidance" reading.. had no clue what this was, a friend just gave me a number, and he basically gave me advice about a relationship I am getting back into. Then at the end of the call he "sent energy" to me, and said over the next few days I will feel something. I definitely felt something! Which I didn't expect and was odd to me, and something most definitely happened, and I felt excited and happy at first, but I realize now that this is something demonic that he sent. I am praying and need help now and am not sure what to do. Can you help?
